The Rebel was the most successful Vietnamese feature film ever. It reenacts the era around 1920, when Vietnam was occupied by french forces.
Greenpost provided full postproduction for this project including scanning in 2K and 4K, compositing, cleaning and grading.
The grading was a very special challenge, as it was done in Saigon and Munich. Greenpost used the special possibility of Speedgrade to exchange looks between its branches in Vietnam and Germany. Also a special look had to be created, assigning several passages in the movie a certain color scheme. Also the target was to give the movie an old look to fit the time the story takes place (have a look at a feature article at "IRIDAS Customer Spotlight").
The Rebel was scanned at Technicolor Thailand and printed to film a ARRI in Munich.
