The Bitfilm Festival 2008 started with a live event in Stuttgart, one of Germany's industrial and cultural hubs, from May 1 to 8. Having been famous for inventors and ingenious engineers for a long time, the Stuttgart region has developed into an important cluster for digital animation.

This kick-off event was embedded into of one of the world's most important animation festivals, the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (May 1 to 6). With more than 40000 visitors and about 1200 accreditated participants from the animation industry it is the second biggest animation festival in the world.

All screenings took place in the Metropol cinema, Bolzstrasse 10.

Bitfilm is also cooperating with the fmx, one of the world's most important conferences for the digital content creation industry (May 5 to 8). Speakers from leading digital animation and post-production studios like Pixar or Dreamworks give an insight into their work and look for new talents.

Tuesday, 11am in the Saal Heilbronn: Talk on the Bitfilm Club and Bitropolis by Aaron Koenig, MD of Bitfilm, and Mirko Caspar, MD of Metaversum.

Monday to Thursday, 10am to 7pm: Festival Café in the foyer of the Bertha-Benz-Saal. There you may watch all the films of the Bitfilm Festival and explore Bitropolis.
