Goobees is a film that explores how a candy named Goobees is made. It juxtaposes colorful candy imagery against a dark macabre story. The candy imagery provokes happiness and fun, but the death-stricken land contradicts the playful imagery.
The film also remarks on the nature of human curiosity. In “Goobees”, a child witnesses the cruel candy-making process through a magical window in a vending machine. The process is morbid, yet fascinating, and we watch the child’s reaction. Is he disturbed by what he has seen, or does he push the button for more candy and begin the process again?
