From the FBW Film Rating Board:
An unknown hero, a superman – today, here in Berlin. Impassioned and at the same time cool, sophisticated, yet incredibly nonchalant, this unusual animation film tells its story in comic style. As befitting to the genre, it can become addictive. Not only the digits zero-one in the title lead us to anticipate a sequel. Fascinating in its formal approach, this image thriller dares to venture into a strong, international, artistic field – and it holds its ground, even asserting itself against geniuses of the graphic novel such as Neil Gaiman.
… there was unanimous agreement in finding “Turmspringer o1” a complete artistic success. ... this aesthetically pleasing film seems to pulsate with the rhythm of the metropolis.
And we were also impressed by how Berlin features as metropolis in such a laconic and self-evident way, how a comic film initiates a heroic saga, in a completely contemporary way.
