Call for Entries - NEW Deadline August 31, 2010 In 2010, the Bitfilm Festival will reinvent itself. It will change from an online festival for digital film into a worldwide experiment in crowd production. Many submissions on a given subject will form a full-length feature film which will be more than the sum of its parts. The audience will select the short films via an online vote. All selected films will receive a payment. Topic The topic for 2010 is: Money & Me. There is no limit in creativity for the film makers. They might interview interesting people about their view on money, create pieces of fiction with actors or explain in short animations how the financial market works. Conditions All film techniques are possible: live action, computer animation, classical animation or a mix of techniques. The categories of the festival are documentary, fiction und animation. The recommended maximum length is three minutes. Selection Via an online vote the audience chooses the seven films of each category that will form the feature film Money & Me. The Bitfilm team may choose additional films in order to reach the final length of 100 minutes. Connecting visual elements and the title sequence will be produced by Bitfilm itself. Marketing & Sales The selected shorts will be presented at the Bitfilm Festival in Hamburg in November 2010. The feature film will be released theatrically in early 2011. Then, it will be marketed along the classical value chain: DVD, Video on Demand, pay TV, free TV. All selected short films will receive a profit share and a minimum guarantee payment upfront. In addition, the most popular shorts of each category will receive a prize money of EUR 2,500. Funding In addition to classical sources such as public film funding and pre-sales Money & Me will work with a crowd-funding system. For as little as EUR 300 you can become an investor. You will receive a share in the film's profits and a significantly higher say in the voting process. |
